Salary and Notice

The listed minimum pay reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on hours and position status (e.g., part-time). Minimum Pay: $18.21

Responsibilities
  • Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists the licensed independent practitioner (LIP) as requested. Directs patients to examination rooms; assists in preparing patients for examination; assists patients in undressing, dressing and getting on and off the examination table. Notifies provider of patient arrival and readiness for examination. Assists providers with patient examinations.
  • Reviews charts prior to scheduled appointments to ensure required lab work and procedures are complete; records medical history, current medications, treatments and problem list accurately; obtains and records vital signs and reason for visit.
  • Assists with patient equipment downloads and prints reports for LIP review in a timely manner.
  • Participates in medication reconciliation, documenting patient medications accurately.
  • Performs clerical duties including patient registration, billing, answering phones, scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records.
  • Assists with equipment cleaning, disinfection and pasteurization per standardized protocols.
  • Disseminates and communicates accurate patient information related to the patient’s disorder.
  • Inputs data in registration, electronic medical record, database and scheduling systems per procedures.
  • Assists patients with completing essential paperwork and questionnaires.
  • Ensures exam rooms are cleaned after each patient and stocked with supplies; practices proper infection control techniques.
  • Cross-trained to perform Patient Reception responsibilities as needed.
  • Performs other clinical and clerical duties to support primary health care delivery within Capital Health offices under supervision and in accordance with policies and state laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned; may be scheduled across Primary or Specialty Care offices as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience:

    Two years as a medical assistant, EMT or other direct patient care role. Nursing students with two completed clinical semesters may be considered.
  • Other Credentials: AHA BLS. Non-licensed applicants must obtain BLS before end of orientation.
  • Knowledge and

    Skills:

    Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills; knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures; ability to document and maintain patient care records.
  • Special Training:
    Knowledge of vital signs, medical terminology, basic computer data entry and medical record management.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Frequent: standing, carrying objects, fine motor activities.
  • Occasional: sitting, walking, climbing stairs, pushing/pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, squatting/kneeling, wrist motion, keyboard use and repetitive motion; taste or smell.
  • Continuous: talking or hearing.
  • Lifting:
    Floor-to-waist 40 lbs; waist level and above 40 lbs.
  • Sensory Requirements: vision (near and far), color discrimination, depth perception, hearing.
  • Exposure: chemical, airborne communicable disease, dust/particulate matter.

Onboarding and vaccine note: Offers are contingent on onboarding and pre-employment physical. Annual flu vaccine is required unless exempt for medical or religious reasons. The company will not ask for social security numbers or dates of birth during the application process.
