Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Designer - Team Lead with the aim to move into the department manager position within a few years when the current Director of Design retires.
In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of designers, drive innovative furniture solutions, and collaborate with clients and manufacturers to bring cutting-edge designs to life.
- Lead and mentor a team of designers, fostering creativity and professional growth
- Oversee multiple contract furniture design projects from concept to completion
- Develop and present innovative design concepts to clients and stakeholders
- Collaborate with manufacturers and vendors to ensure design feasibility and quality
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate them into design solutions
- Ensure all designs meet ergonomic standards and industry regulations
- Contribute to business development efforts and client relationship management
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
- Bachelor's degree in interior design or a related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in contract furniture design, with a proven track record of leading design teams
- Advanced proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey design concepts to clients and team members
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in mentoring junior designers
- In-depth knowledge of contract furniture industry trends, standards, and best practices
- Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomics
- Experience working directly with manufacturers and vendors
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Additional certifications in project management or leadership are preferred
