9/80 Regular (9/80 Employees work 9 out of every 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off)
Ideal Candidate:
Strong System Engineer with deep expertise in Information Assurance, cryptography and NSA Type–1 certification processes, bringing at least 10 years of experience supporting the full system engineering lifecycle for high–assurance, mission critical defense communication systems. They combine both embedded systems integration experience with a strong understanding of secure networking, key management, and ability to serve as a technical SME who can drive NSA certification activities from architecture through test.

The Information Assurance Systems Security Engineer is first and foremost a Systems Engineer who is also a subject matter expert in the development of systems and equipment that protect classified National Security information. The ideal candidate possesses Systems Engineering experience combined with Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography expertise, with demonstrated success contributing to NSA–approved products considered highly desirable.
Essential Functions:- Applies security and cryptography expertise throughout the Systems Engineering lifecycle to develop and successfully certify National Security systems on time, within budget, and with low residual risk.
- Supports the design, development, and test of high–assurance security solutions for Defense and Intelligence community customers.
- Develops Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), decomposing and synthesizing security requirements, verifying security features, supporting security architecture development and analysis, and assisting with design and security test planning and execution.
- Supports NSA certification activities, secure networking integration, and embedded platform security for Type–1 cryptographic communication systems.
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Systems Lead for Information Assurance, Security, and Cryptography.
- Travels up to 10%
- Ability to obtain and maintain US Security Clearances.
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline;
Masters degree highly desirable. - Active DoD security clearance required (SECRET minimum).
- 10+ years of Systems Engineering experience supporting Information Assurance systems or related products.
- At least 5 years of experience with Systems Engineering lifecycle from concept through test, including architecture development, functional analysis, requirements allocation & traceability, trade studies, system synthesis, and integration.
- Experience planning, developing, and executing verification activities for security features and system–level functionality.
- Hands–on system integration and test (I&T) experience for complex embedded or networked systems.
- Experience authoring and reviewing artifacts for formal design reviews.
- Model–Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- Proven track record in the architecture, design, analysis, integration, and test of NSA Type–1 certified or NSA–approved systems or equipment.
