Directly responsible to the General Manager. Communicates and collaborates with the shipping department to ensure all orders are packed and shipped on time. Functionally responsible with all members of the packing crew concerning day-to-day packing matters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Packing Team Lead include, but are not limited to:

  • Start each shift on time and ensure all team members are present and assigned work based on priority to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Communicate with other team leads regarding issues from shift to shift.
  • Organize and pack materials according to the planned packing/shipping list.
  • Route applicable work orders to the Fabrication department.
  • Drive the forklift to load and unload trucks as needed.
  • Oversee staging of materials according to the shipping address.
  • Route all work orders for packed materials to the Shipping office.
  • Ensure packers have a list of jobs to be packed according to due date and priority.
  • Supervise packers to follow specific packing instructions as directed by sales or customers.
  • Ensure proficiency with Epics and the company's routing process.
  • Coordinate QA samples for outside testing and work orders for new and replacement dies.
  • Route incomplete orders to Scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with all quality policies, procedures, and system requirements.
  • Ensure stocked materials are placed in the correct locations.
  • Verify material placement in designated racks (Stock/Finished goods).
  • Ensure pull stock orders are filled from correct stock order numbers.
  • Promote continuous cross-training and process improvements within the team.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality policies, procedures, and system requirements.
  • Participate in annual employee reviews.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience
    • Post-secondary education preferred;
      Grade 12 mandatory.
    • 3-5 years of production experience in an industrial environment.
    • 2 years of experience in a lead role is an asset.
    Technical Skills/Competence
    • Ability to read and write; familiar with packing procedures.
    • Forklift certification is an asset.
    • Strong team-building and motivational skills.
    • Good command of English, both written and oral.
