Job Description
The selected candidate will provide procurement support for Clinical Development Sourcing and Procurement (CDSP) in Clinical Trial Central Labs. This includes sourcing of clinical services utilizing the Sourcing Management Process for strategic analysis of suppliers, supply markets and supply chains. This role works closely with internal stakeholders in the clinical research, procurement, and finance organizations to achieve cross‑functional business objectives. The role is responsible for negotiating costs, executing contracts and ongoing contract management, and will report to the Associate Director, Clinical Trial Central Labs to support high‑quality sourcing initiatives and procurement category management.
PrimaryActivities
- Contract Execution and Management – prepare contract documents for internal review, approval, and signature, ensuring filing and internal tracking.
- Sourcing – assist in creating and executing RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, and performing structured information analysis to inform procurement strategy.
- Budget Negotiation – support negotiations with suppliers based on detailed analysis of internal requirements, supplier costs, and external benchmarks.
- Stakeholder Support – provide budgetary and contractual decisions/actions as part of a cross‑functional team, escalating issues to procurement management and other functional areas (Legal, Privacy, Compliance, etc.).
- Supplier Performance Management – monitor, report, manage, and continuously improve supplier performance.
- Category Team Membership – active member of a category team to influence development and optimization of ongoing supplier and sourcing strategies.
- Best Practice Sharing – generate world‑class quality work that is shared with and transferred to colleagues.
- Minimum: HS Diploma/GED
- Preferred: BS Degree
- Minimum 3 years experience in academic research, pharmaceutical industry, clinical research or procurement.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; formal presentations required.
- Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders and suppliers in a challenging clinical trial environment.
- Adaptability to ambiguous and complex situations.
- Highly proficient in Excel.
- Ability to contribute to projects within diverse cross‑functional teams to achieve client, department and company goals.
- Experience at a sponsor or Contract Resource Organization (CRO) working on outsourced services for clinical trials.
- Proficiency in Excel and Ariba.
- Superior analytical skills in evaluating complex research services budgets, comparing supplier bids and internal benchmarking data.
- Relevant experience may include clinical trials management, outsourced clinical services, contract management, laboratory experience or relationship management related to clinical trials.
- Experience in clinical trial central lab services is strongly preferred.

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office‑based positions in the U.S. will work a hybrid model consisting of three total days on‑site per week (Monday – Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization), with Friday as a remote‑working day, unless business‑critical tasks require an on‑site presence. This model does not apply to field‑based, facility‑based or research‑based positions where work is performed on a Company site, to positions covered by a collective‑bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work), or to any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely.
