This position is responsible for operating the screed from a standing position on a platform attached to the paver or walking alongside.

• Uses the screed to lay asphalt material to project specifications including but not limited to depth, width, and grade, when not operating the screed, performs laborer duties.
• Must be able to detect and correct defects in surfaces, seams and edges.
• Having a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.

• No formal education required.
• Requires at least two years of experience on a paving crew performing laborer duties.
• Requires two years of screed experience.
