This position is responsible for operating the asphalt paver and assisting the supervisor in determining the pattern and sequence of the paving operations.

• Directs the trucks delivering asphalt to the paver, alerting the driver to overhead obstacles and signaling instructions.
• Removes asphalt material that may be sticking to conveyors, augers and other parts of paver.
• Cleans equipment as necessary during and after work is performed following proper lockout/tag-out procedures.
• Qualified candidates must have a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.

• No formal education is required.
• Has practical experience of a year or more within a paving crew performing the duties and responsibilities of a laborer, roller operator and/or screed operator.
• Has at least one year of experience operating asphalt paving machines.
