A Day in the Life of a Senior Construction EstimatorAs the Senior Estimator, you will oversee the estimating process, confirming take‑offs, reviewing work estimates, and ensuring risks are understood. You will lead and direct junior estimators and occasionally oversee project engineers. Your organizational skills will prepare project overviews and pre‑bid information and conduct specification and special provision reviews. You will collaborate with operations staff to validate construction productions and the equipment used in pricing, guaranteeing accurate and cost‑effective estimates.
You will navigate pre‑bid job sites, gathering vital estimation information to support successful bids. You will exhibit flexibility to complete additional projects and tasks as they arise.
Qualifications for a Senior Construction Estimator- 10+ years of experience as an estimator in hard bid and unit priced work in a DOT or Federal contract setting
- Bachelor's degree in business, civil engineering, construction management, or related field
- Proficiency with the HCSS Heavy Bid estimating system
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to prioritize estimating tasks and workflow to meet review schedules and bid dates
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand project plans, specifications, and scope of work
