FT Librarian 1 - Adult Reference - Middletown Township Public Library

Full-Time Librarian 1 - Adult Reference

The Middletown Township Public Library is seeking a customer service oriented, enthusiastic leader to join our dedicated staff in the Adult Reference department.

Education

A Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State University.

License

Appointees must hold or possess a valid certification as a Professional Librarian issued by Thomas Edison State University.

Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service, reference and readers advisory support, and technology support at the public service desk.
  • Participate in collection development including selection, evaluation, placement, and weeding of physical and digital materials.
  • Support in planning, scheduling, marketing, implementing and evaluating programs.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing community outreach.
  • Excellent computer and technology skills required, including proficiency in MS Office, Google suite, and other various library software and databases.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot patron-driven technologies, including smartphones, tablets, and PCs/Mac.
  • Answer technology questions & assist patrons with databases, downloadable media, and computer use.
  • Develop and deliver training classes and programs for the public.
  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
  • Stay informed about current and emerging library services through professional development webinars and other events.
  • Other duties as required.
Schedule

Off 1 day per month during the week to cover 1 Saturday per month (9:00-5:00 pm) shift

Compensation

CWA Local Union 1032 contractual salary: $63,053.37
