Requirements for the Position

• Experience Level
• Successful completion of student teaching is the minimum
• Education background
• Proper Pennsylvania certification in subject/special field area
• B.S. or B.A. Degree is the minimum
• The individual’s credentials are in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations governing individuals functioning in the capacity of this position.

Major Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver instruction
• Encourage all students to learn well
• Maintain and report information on pupil progress

Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach the subjects required in the curriculum and planned course documents as assigned by the middle school principal in accordance with the district’s proposed schedule
• Prepare written lesson plans as a basis for the day’s activities
• Perform such general building duties as prescribed by the principal
• Provide supervision in the halls during the passing of classes
• Follow the procedure prescribed in the handbook in regard to fire drills, report cards, eligibility reports, failures, etc.
• Attend all faculty, team and department meetings as required by the principal
• Participate in all in-service and training activities
• Comply with requests and recommendations of the department chairpersons
• Plan and initiate parent-teacher conferences when desirable
• Contribute to the development of the annual instructional budget
• Perform such additional responsibilities as may be determined by the Board of School Directors and the district administration
