Be a Host Family to a High School Exchange Student

Education Travel & Culture (ETC) offers opportunities to host high school students from around the world on a J-1 visa. They provide support to both students and families through a network of local coordinators and dedicated office staff.

• Ensure a safe and nurturing home environment for the student
• Provide a room (shared with a similarly aged host sibling if applicable) and a private bed
• Offer three meals per day
• Arrange transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities
• Give love, support, and guidance to the student
• Explore cultural differences and similarities together
• Accept families with or without children

• Students bring their own spending money and health insurance
• Students have good English skills
• Students are highly screened through the program
• Students are excited to meet their American family

• Learn about a new culture through food, music, and language
• Share your culture with an exchange student
• Add a new member to your family
• Help an exchange student experience an American education and a life-changing experience
