Job Description and Position Requirements
Penn State Abington seeks to hire part-time Youth Program instructors for grades 3-12 from June 2026 through August 2026
. Topics to be taught include STEM programming, arts, writing, leadership and soft skills, wellness, and others.
Assist with creating and implementing program curriculum and lessons, managing supplies, and supervising minors participating in programs.
Work collaboratively with the Youth Program Director, Student counselors, and Continuing Education staff to create an inviting, enjoyable, and educational environment for students.
Attend team meetings as scheduled by the Youth Program Director.
Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills are required.
Must be outgoing, work well with children, have strong customer service skills, and be a self‑starter.
For most openings, an advanced degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution is required.
Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.
Summer instructors are needed for daytime in‑person programming from Monday through Thursday June 22 through August 13, 2025, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, instructors must attend a one‑day, in‑person staff orientation at Penn State Abington scheduled between June 15th and June 18th
, prior to the start of the camp sessions. Conflicts during this time frame can be discussed during the interview.To be considered, applicants must apply online and submit a resume including teaching experience, and a cover letter stating the types of programs they are interested in teaching.
Instructors are required to attend a mandatory staff orientation prior to the camp season.
Scope of youth programs depends on course content and varies in length. Multiple vacancies are available for various programs. Employment is contingent upon adequate student enrollment in the Youth Programs.
Background Checks / ClearancesThis position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
