The Chester County Intermediate Unit(CCIU) has an opening for a secondary emotional supportteacher to teach math and science within the Gateway Program in our Student Services division at our TCHS Pennock's Bridge Campus in West Grove, PA. Our TCHS Pennock's Bridge Gateway Program offers high school emotional support programming with smaller academic and elective classroom environments and access to mental health supports.

This program encourages participation in career and technical education for those students who are interested. Students typically spend half their day in their technical program and half their day receiving academic instruction.

• Qualifications:
  • Bachelors level degree in education required
  • Valid PA Special Education Certificate (7-12 or N-12) required
  • Valid PA Instructional Certificate in Secondary Math or Science preferred
  • Experience teaching Math or Science preferred
  • Experience with secondary students preferred
  • Experience working with children and adolescents with severe and complex behavior challenges in school, community, or residential setting preferred
  • Current police, child abuse & FBI fingerprint clearances required (conducted by the CCIU upon hire)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Instruct individuals and groups in special education skill and subject area
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods
• Evaluate and monitor student progress based on classroom performance, test scores, and observation of behavior
• Support objectives and interventions of the educational program
• Maintain safe physical environment of the classroom
• Maintain contact with parents of students and/or professionals concerning student progress
• When appropriate, develop IEPs addressing specific academic, behavioral, and speech needs of students
• Prepare report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other documentation as required
• Function as integral member of treatment/IEP team, addressing needs of students

Salary 2026-27 School Year:
$62,155 to $89,730 - Instructional I Certification
$64,834 to $93,324 - Instructional II Certification
$69,353 to $101,911 - Master's Degree
$72,740 to $105,924 - Master's +15
$74,415 to $107,845 - Masters + 30

* Placement on the salary scale is determined by previous experience. Salary is pro-rated for days worked in the school year.
