Job OverviewWe are seeking an energetic Building Envelope/Structural Engineer who is passionate about repairing and rehabilitating historic buildings in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The role focuses on inspecting historic building facades and structural systems of existing buildings, properties, and parking garages, and provides project support from evaluation and design conception through construction.
Responsibilities- Coordinate initial survey meetings and on-site evaluations with project team members and clients.
- Perform façade assessment, including work at heights, and prepare detailed inspection reports with repair/rehabilitation recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with the Philadelphia Facade Ordinance and submit required documentation to L&I.
- Develop professional relationships with clients and build a strong network.
- Maintain organized records, files, photos, drawings, and other project data.
- Conduct field evaluations, document existing conditions, perform field testing, and create photo records and field sketches.
- Assist with preparation of design drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Communicate written correspondence with clients and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with HR to facilitate team building.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a four‑year college or university.
- Minimum 2–5 years as a professional engineer (PE) in an architecture or engineering consulting firm (preferred).
- PE in Pennsylvania; PE in NJ, DE, MD, and/or NY is a plus.
- OSHA‑10 certification required; OSHA‑30 preferred.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Proficiency or competence in rope access.
- Experience using drone technology or willingness to complete drone training.
- Understanding of construction plans, specifications, and construction manuals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong project management skills.
- Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Proficiency with drafting software such as AutoCAD (preferred).
- Ability to design repairs and prepare design drawings, sketches, and specifications for real‑world applications.
- Safe operation of ladders, scaffolds, and articulating boom lifts.
- Ability to work at heights and in diverse weather conditions (temperature 40–85°F, high humidity, snow/ice, rain, wind).

CompensationHourly position commensurate with experience – $90,000–$150,000 per year.
