The Software Engineer will be a member of the Software Engineering team and will be responsible for developing design-driven machine configuration files on a deadline-oriented manufacturing schedule. To accomplish this, you will work closely with other members of the Software Engineering team, Field Service, Technical Support, and Manufacturing Operations to provide technical assistance in support of our manufacturing and customer support efforts.

Additionally, you will be responsible for occasional software testing in support of development activities. The position is based Horsham, PA and supports our Precision Surface Processing (PSP) product line.

• Perform translation of electrical and plumbing schematics into configuration files that customize the manufactured product to meet customer process requirements.
• Provide assistance to the Field Service and Global Product groups in support of customer service issues, sometimes handling these issues directly with the customer.
• Support the Manufacturing department throughout the machine build and setup process, reconfiguring files as required to address issues and design modifications.
• Develop and improve templates to support the semi-automated process for configuration file development.
• Image, configure, and occasionally troubleshoot Windows PCs used in the product line.
• Perform software unit and system testing as directed.
• Additional tasks and projects to support other Veeco product lines or locations.

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience is required; or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of experience.

• Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Experience interfacing with customers.
• Experience programming software applications and/or PLC devices is desired.
• Skilled at Administrator level with the Microsoft Windows operating system.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience operating industrial machinery and/or robotics is desired.
• Experience in the Semiconductor industry is an advantage.
• Detail oriented.

The expected salary range for this position is $118,730—$150,392, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors when determining your pay.
