The Associate Global Service Engineer acts as a critical liaison between the Global Service organization and Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) teams while supporting the New Product Development (NPD) teams. This role focuses on ensuring serviceability in the design of Bayer Radiology medical devices, leading the development of service documentation, and integrating field service considerations into product designs. Additionally, the Associate Global Service Engineer monitors product reliability, the training of field service teams and drives process efficiencies to enhance overall service performance and customer satisfaction.
The Global Service Engineering team is accountable for executing the overall service initiatives for each injector in the Radiology portfolio.
- Contribute to the maintenance of medical equipment service documentation, including service plans, manuals, installation guides, and preventative maintenance procedures, for both new product development and sustaining products;
- Participate in the Design for Serviceability of Bayer Radiology medical devices, including gathering global service requirements and contributing to prototype builds to enhance repairability and replaceability;
- Support the development of service tools, kits, and processes for global field service teams;
- Support processes and tools development to enable trained field service personnel to install, troubleshoot, repair, and conduct preventative maintenance on Radiology medical devices;
- Monitor the reliability performance of fielded products, identifying quality enhancement opportunities through field service report analyses;
- Support the escalation process for field service and regional TAC teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on feedback;
- Identify and implement servicing process efficiencies to improve injector delivery performance metrics, such as mean time to repair and first‑time fix rates;
- Support the Global Service organization’s business and operational strategies during product development and lifecycle engineering initiatives;
- Interface with country/regional service leadership, technical assistance centers, and end‑user customers to monitor equipment performance and product reliability;
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including NPD, LCE, Quality, Software, Cybersecurity, and Product Supply, to identify failure root causes and drive continuous improvement in product reliability and field service processes;
- Aids global field service implementation for hardware and software changes to enhance product reliability and customer satisfaction;
- Manage service master data tables to ensure effective field service processes (Service Max, SAP, Salesforce);
- Initiate software package distribution to field service engineers and distributors through Pass Link software manager as required;
- Attend weekly cross‑product Lifecycle Engineering meetings to provide service perspectives on upcoming changes and their impact on the service organization;
- Assist CAPA and QIA corrective and preventative actions and conduct root cause analysis for service‑impacted processes;
- Complete training and approvals per company and service policies, serving as a service approver in the PLM system for engineering changes.
