Automotive Product Design Engineer 5+ Years of Experience (US Citizens Only)

Location:

Lafayette, IN

Base pay range: $90,000 - $115,000 per year

Seeking a product development engineer for automotive engineering projects. Lead product development activities per our process, support corporate initiatives aligned with the company's automotive strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead automotive product development projects, from Phase 0 to Phase 5.
  • Plan and organize project activities, generate status updates and engineering reports.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and testing protocols.
  • Conduct DFMEAs, identify risks, engineer mitigation strategies.
  • Determine validation/verification activities to satisfy design requirements and customer specs.
  • Lead internal design reviews, present findings in customer design reviews.
  • Utilize lean design and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Collaborate with lab resources to complete testing activities.
  • Enhance team skills and expand automotive division capabilities.
  • Support activities to meet project milestones within the Automotive Engineering group.
Qualifications
  • Earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering (Master preferred).
  • 5-8 years of product development/process engineering experience.
  • Preferred knowledge of magnet wire products and applications.
  • Proficient in process engineering techniques and modern equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with production and lab equipment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in design, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Strong project planning and management skills; experience with APQP.
  • Problem‑solving using engineering principles.
  • Ability to listen, lead, and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience spearheading technical efforts on automotive product projects.
