Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer – Boston Scientific

About This Role

The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer drives improvement and corrective action in the quality of direct components from external suppliers. Provides technical support in the selection of suppliers, develops acceptance criteria for materials, and monitors supplier performance to drive corrective action, manufacturing yield improvement, and field failure resolutions.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality and manufacturing capabilities and provide technical support for the introduction of components from a new supplier.
  • Generate and maintain incoming inspection procedures and train inspectors to these procedures.
  • Analyze incoming material defects, dispositions and drive corrective action as necessary; communicate issues to suppliers.
  • Investigate field failures related to supplier materials and develop corrective action plans.
  • Influence cross‑functional global teams spanning Design, Quality Assurance, R&D, Regulatory, Supplier Engineering, and Sourcing.
  • Anticipate potential barriers to success, find alternatives to overcome obstacles and avoid near misses.
  • Mentor others in core Supplier Quality Engineering skills and competencies (Supplier Compliance, Change Control, VIP, Statistical aptitude, Quality Tools application).
  • Partner with suppliers on process improvements for capability, risk reduction, and single point failures.
  • Generate ideas on expanding the impact of commodity teams from cross‑network customers and understand the effects of industry and market changes.
  • Build partnerships across the organization and balance costs/benefits/risks of cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Act as a positive image and change agent for others, both internal and external to the group.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively with suppliers, customers, and team needs, and solicit input to involve others in decision making.
  • Lead teams and projects while consistently hitting milestones; create clear project plans and contingency plans.
  • Make decisions with significant impact on the department and its customers, following emerging trends and educating peers.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Chemistry or a similar technical field.
  • Five or more years of relevant quality engineering experience in medical device manufacturing.
  • Experience with manufacturing process controls.
  • Demonstrated understanding of QSR and ISO standard requirements for Material/Purchasing Controls, Product Realization, Validation and CAPA.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASQ Certified Supplier Quality Professional or Certified Quality Engineer.
  • Problem‑solving subject‑matter expertise and project leadership experience in Packaging, Sterilization Validation, Calibration and Analytical Labs.
  • Understanding of Quality Agreements.
  • Ability to work independently, be highly organized and self‑driven.
  • Medical Device Industry expertise.
Compensation

Minimum Salary: $78,600
Maximum Salary: $149,300
Compensation will vary based on actual location and other pertinent factors. Salary is commensurate with experience, training, education and other relevant business needs.
