Incumbent serves as Assistant Electronic Technician for Traffic Engineering.
DUTIES- Assists with the proper operation of City’s traffic control devices through testing, performance of preventative maintenance and necessary repair of electronic equipment.
- Monitors intersection control systems to assure proper operation.
- Assists in the design, manufacture, testing and placement of new traffic control equipment as needed.
- Assists in the design and development of electronic testing devices and equipment to accommodate varying situations and needs.
- Subject to call 24 hours a day and on weekends and holidays for emergency maintenance.
- Works any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays as required.
- Wearing beepers is not mandatory for this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned and assists other employees as required.
- Associate degree in electronic technology. No other related experience required.
- Must possess/maintain a valid Indiana Drivers License.
- Incumbent must have knowledge of procedures involved in the design, testing and maintenance of electronic control system including ability to read schematic diagrams.
Work is performed under moderate supervision with incumbent reporting to Electronics Technician and Traffic Engineering Superintendent. Incumbent performs a series of testing and maintenance functions according to a formal schedule or as assigned by supervisors.
PHYSICAL EFFORTEffort is exerted for short periods with no prolonged strain. Effort involves pushing, pulling, reaching, bending and moderate lifting. In addition, must meet and/or perform all established physical requirements.
WORK CONDITIONSModerate exposure to temperature and inclement weather. Occasional exposure to hazardous working conditions including hazardous traffic situations. Occasionally works at moderate heights in boom/bucket truck.
