Design Engineer at Aegis Worldwide

Position Summary

The Design Engineer supports the design, development, and improvement of products and components by creating detailed engineering designs, drawings, and documentation. This role works closely with senior engineers, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs meet technical, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, or systems
  • Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software
  • Prepare engineering documentation including bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, and change requests
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are producible and cost‑effective
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into final designs
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for design‑related issues
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, codes, and safety requirements
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 0–3 years of experience in a design or engineering role (internship or co‑op experience acceptable)
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Solid Works, AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and work in a team‑oriented environment

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with GD&T
  • Exposure to FEA, testing, or product validation
  • Familiarity with PLM systems
  • Internship or project experience in manufacturing or product development
