At Lumiphase, we are looking for a part-time or full-time High-speed Photonics Engineer to join our team for the development of high-speed photonics modulators, and the development of new products using our integrated photonic technology.
In this role, you will be at the heart of our technology designing high-speed optical modulators for our products, and be part of bringing them into large scale manufacturing. You will work in cross-functional teams with versatile and exciting responsibilities.
TasksDesign:
- Design of high-speed photonic modulators, interfaces and packages;
- Development of models and design concepts for BTO modulators;
- Validate new and existing designs by evaluating experimental data, including statistical analysis;
- Define specifications and targets for new products based on customer needs;
- Interface with analog IC designers for electro-optic co-design;
- Development and evaluation of RF electro-topic tests;
- Document technical work using the existing logging/storage infrastructure;
- Work in a dynamic team of engineers, researchers, technicians, and operators;
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with fabrication, testing and packaging teams to provide feedback for iterative improvements.
- Support product development cycles by defining tapeout plans and ensuring alignment with projects specifications.
- Contribute to the development of innovative components and layouts
Education:
- Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, preferably with a focus in Photonics.
Experience and Technical
Skills:
- Deep understanding of optoelectronics, integrated photonic circuits and their applications;
- Experience designing high-speed modulators in silicon, thin-film lithium niobate, or indium phosphide foundry platforms;
- Experience in development and validation of simulation models against experimental data;
- Experience in designing high-speed modulators against a customer specification;
- Extensive experience with electro-magnetic simulation tools (e.g. Lumerical, HFSS, CST Studio, or similar);
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis and silicon photonics testing methodologies;
- Strong programming skills (e.g. python, C#) and proficiency in statistical data analysis;
Soft Skills:
- Creative, motivated, critical thinking, and hands-on attitude with the drive to tackle hard challenges;
- Good organizational skills to plan and operate time-critical processes;
- Ability to learn quickly and adequately transfer that knowledge to others;
- Strong team working and good verbal and written communication skills.
