Designer, Engineering Design & Technologists, CAD​/ AutoCAD​/ Mechanical Design

create technical drawings and design documents to support production of switch gear division products.

• responsible for maintaining revision control on all cad files.
• prepare drawings in collaboration with applications/sales/design engineers.
• assemble/convert design concepts from engineering staff and create design documents that fully specify the design intent and support the manufacture of the product.
• prepare both mechanical and electrical design documents.
• make recommendations to improve product cost, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
• work with production personnel (both division and vendor) to resolve design issues.
• create drawing files and keep them updated according to company procedures.
• support and assist design engineering manager as needed.
• further the goals and positive, professional image of the division by conducting business with other meppi departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.
• know meppi's quality, safety, and environmental policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.

• provide basic design support for applications and design engineers.
• perform other duties as assigned.

• associate's degree in drafting or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a custom manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience.
• advanced skills with 3d modeling cad packages.
• advanced skills with both mechanical and electrical drawing practices.
• ability to work in a team environment and on several projects simultaneously.
• ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision.
• advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• advanced computer skills with emphasis on ms office products and erp/mrp systems.
