Responds to EMS calls and performs a variety of functions related to the care and treatment of patients suffering from urgent and emergent disease and/or injury states in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols. according to PA DOH EMS Act and scope of practice.
Essential Functions- Responds to EMS calls whether emergency or routine transport, observes safety policies and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others.
- Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
- Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
- Prepares, hangs, monitors, and discontinues I.V. fluids.
- Responds to emergency non-emergency calls as an Advanced Life Support Provider when appropriate, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) EMS protocols.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Participates in educational programs and in service meetings.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
Minimum Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
- 1 year In busy 911 system. Required
Licenses:
- Certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Upon Hire Required and
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required and
- Certified EMS Vehicle Operator Upon Hire Required
Driver's License Statement:
Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by Well Span Risk Management.
Courses and Training:
- Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC);
National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 - Hazardous Materials Awareness. Upon Hire Required
