This position is responsible for assisting the Registered Nurse within the realm of their education with respect to any changes with the patient. The primary job duties of the position are monitoring vital signs, providing patient care and feeding assistance, and ensuring patient safety.
MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOBThis position typically requires:
The ability to manage multiple projects/tasks, provide close attention to detail, adapt to a constantly changing work environment, work a predictable schedule, meet frequent deadlines, work under close supervision, establish own goals, work closely with others, maintain much record-keeping/routine paperwork and utilize creativity. The ability to constantly stand, walk, lift approximately 65 pounds, push/pull approximately 200 pounds, pull hand over hand, stoop, kneel, repeatedly bend, reach, withstand repetitive twisting or pressure involving wrists or hands, use both hands, use rapid mental/muscular coordination simultaneously, communicate orally, and hear conversation is also typically required.
The ability to frequently lift between 25 and 40 pounds, carry approximately 25 pounds is also typically required. The ability to occasionally sit, lift approximately ten pounds is also typically required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training/License/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of PCT program or comparable program such as (EMT, Medical Assistant, Nursing student with at least one semester of clinical), preferred.
BLS Healthcare card is preferred at time of hire, required within 6 months of hire.
Work Experience:
One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
