To provide transportation for wheelchairs, medical taxis, and stretchers to transport patients to hospitals, nursing homes, doctor offices, or any other facility previously approved. The wheelchair transporter works closely with the EMT to provide effective and efficient patient care per established protocols relevant to EMR certification.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOther duties may be assigned.
The Wheelchair Transporter is fully responsible and is accountable for the quality of emergency and non-emergency medical care delivered. In delivering pre-hospital emergency care, the wheelchair transporter performs all basic life support techniques, provides specified field treatment for medical emergencies, and transports patients to the appropriate medical facility. This includes an ambulance, wheelchair, and medical van. Must maintain Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) credentials.

Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer SkillsMust have basic computer skills using e-mail and data entry for charting and billing purposes.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsCurrent driver's license must hold a Heartsaver First Aid and CPR from the American Heart Association or have successfully completed an equivalent course of study. Emergy Care may elect to provide such training as part of orientation in lieu of one of the above-listed certifications or cards. The incumbent must complete an Emergency Vehicle Driver’s Training Course (EVDT) approved by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within three weeks (21 calendar days) of employment.
