As a Student Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Performs sonography exams, two dimensional and M-mode with color flow Doppler on adult and pediatric patients. Performs general and vascular sonography exams and assists with invasive procedures. All performing of studies occurs under the direct supervision of a diagnostic medical sonographer. Demonstrates the ability to assimilate data, perform measurements, and provide diagnostic quality images. Performs procedures on patients ranging from infants to patients in later maturity.
Performs General and Vascular Sonography exams – involves quality diagnostic scanning of patients in the Ultrasound area or patient room. The patient is positioned on the ultrasound bed by the student and Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performing the procedure: 80% of the procedure time is spent on the scanning function.
The Sonography Student will demonstrate the ability to assimilate data, perform measurements and provide diagnostic quality images for interpretation with the assistance of the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. The student will collect all the data for the sonogram to be viewed for the interpreting physician. Studies will be transferred to the electronic storage/reading station for physician interpretation.
The Sonography Student will assist the physician and Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with invasive procedures – the student and sonographer must be present to operate the ultrasound unit and collect all pertinent data.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively perform treadmill studies under the supervision of the Technician.
Participates on departmental and/or hospital performance improvement teams as appropriate.
Required Certifications/LicensesMust be enrolled in an accredited school for medical sonographers.
Must be able to work 16 hours per 2 week pay period.
