The Phlebotomist / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) provides professional patient-facing specimen collection services. This includes drawing high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and delivering a positive, safe, and trustworthy patient experience. The PSR I follows established procedures while demonstrating strong communication, accuracy, and a commitment to confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection safely and accurately across all age groups.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis per established protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional clinical environment.
- Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.
- Perform daily tasks on schedule and with minimal supervision.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to compliance requirements.
- Promote a positive image to patients, coworkers, and the public.
- Adapt to staffing needs, including potential weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
- Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience.
- 1+ years phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, WA — not required in PA).
- Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and patient-engagement skills.
- Adaptability to workload or schedule changes.
- Understanding of specimen-handling processes and compliance requirements.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills and dependability.
