Position Overview:

Are you passionate about supporting the growth and development of others? IU Health is seeking a dedicated Nursing Professional Development Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in helping nurses and patient support staff enhance their skills, expand their knowledge, and reach their full potential. All new NPDs receive individualized orientation to support their success.
This position involves managing onboarding and orientation programs, staff competency assessments, and ongoing education initiatives. The role offers a flexible schedule, collaborative team environment, and opportunities to lead professional growth initiatives within our medical-surgical units.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead onboarding and orientation programs for new staff members.
- Manage staff competency assessments and support ongoing professional development.
- Develop and deliver tailored educational programs based on staff and unit needs.
- Support role development and growth initiatives across units.
- Build collaborative partnerships with unit leaders and stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of inquiry, continuous improvement, and learning.
- Travel as needed to meet educational needs across the system.
- Participate in department meetings, including bi-monthly professional development sessions.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) required; MSN preferred (applicants open to obtaining MSN are encouraged).
- Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per department policies.
- Two years of clinical experience, ideally in medical-surgical nursing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, educational strategies, and mentoring skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Outlook (email and calendar) and familiarity with Teams (not a deal breaker but preferred).
