Position Summary:

The Patient Safety & Infection Control Data Coordinator provides statistical and data analytic expertise in a confidential environment. They manage and supervise the utilization of patient safety and infection prevention databases and carry out delegated data management functions as needed on behalf of the Patient Safety Team and Infection Prevention Team.  Education, License & Cert:

Bachelor’s degree required.  Must have college-level reading comprehension, writing and data analytics skills.

RN preferred.

Experience with Medical Terminology required.

Certification or degree in informatics preferred.

Understanding of data management.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Can work independently.

Confident in facilitating conversations across a wide range of caregivers.

Driven by curiosity to drill into and analyze medical data.

Excellent organizational skills: ability to prioritize, use good time management and adhere to deadlines as directed.

Experience:

Experience working in healthcare setting is required.

Experience using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required.

Experience with a diverse range of computer software products is required.

Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record is preferred.

Experience with data analysis, statistics, and report-writing.

Experience in training others.

Essential Functions:

Works 50% with the Patient Safety Team and 50% with the Infection Prevention Team.

With the System Patient Safety Team:

Manages the administration of the Patient Safety Incident Reporting System which includes ensuring that access to the system is updated and caregiver roles are assigned appropriately, building reports/dashboards that meet the organization’s needs, updating forms for data collection as requested. Provides instructional support to users on the Patient Safety Incident Reporting System functionality.
