The Onyx Research Data Platform organization represents a major investment by GSK R&D and Digital & Tech, designed to deliver a step-change in our ability to leverage data, knowledge, and prediction to find new medicines. We are a full‑stack shop consisting of product and portfolio leadership, data engineering, infrastructure and Dev Ops, data/metadata/knowledge platforms, and AI/ML analysis platforms, all geared toward:

  • Building a next‑generation, metadata‑ and automation‑driven data experience for GSK’s scientists, engineers, and decision‑makers, increasing productivity and reducing time spent on “data mechanics.”
  • Providing best‑in‑class AI/ML and data analysis environments to accelerate our predictive capabilities and attract top‑tier talent.
  • Aggressively engineering our data at scale, as one unified asset, to unlock the value of our unique collection of data and predictions in real‑time.

The Cloud Infrastructure team is dedicated to designing and maintaining a robust and scalable cloud platform that forms the backbone of our organization’s digital ecosystem. This team is responsible for implementing and managing core cloud services, ensuring seamless integration with other systems, and maintaining overall reliability and availability of the platform. Through collaboration with cross‑functional teams, they drive the adoption of Dev Ops practices, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to facilitate a smooth and agile development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage infrastructure solutions based on best practices, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deploy and operate applications and platforms in a cloud‑native environment.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure deployments.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation related to cloud architectures, configurations, and processes.
  • Stay aligned with industry best practice in cloud infrastructure, continuously improving our architecture and security posture.
  • Actively seek feedback, learn from experiences, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience — or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS), including infrastructure as code (Terraform).
  • Experience with CI/CD implementation (e.g., Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops, or Cloud Build).
  • Experience in agile software development environments.
  • Knowledge and use of at least one common programming language (e.g., Python, Rust, C++, Scala, Go, Java), including tool chains that support operations such as documentation, testing, and observability.
  • Experience with declarative programming (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in modern software development tools and ways of working (e.g., Git/Git Hub, Dev Ops tools, metrics/monitoring).
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and the larger CNCF ecosystem, including deployment tools such as Helm.
  • Basic understanding of networking, virtualization, storage, containers, and serverless.
  • Experience using tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Familiarity with tools, techniques, and engagement with open‑source communities relevant to the specialization area.
