Our Product Owners are fundamental to ensuring the digital technology and related services that NTT DATA builds for our clients are valuable, intuitive, and impactful. The work of the Senior Product Owner focuses on Product Definition and supports Product Delivery. On small/simple engagements, this role typically also leads the breakdown of epics into fully defined features to accomplish the vision. Outcomes include products that deliver maximum value relative to effort, and sufficient workload for the full team.

  • Lead discussions with stakeholders to understand business and user needs and translate them into technical requirements. Support the accomplishment of the product vision by breaking down the business needs into features and stories.
  • Design software solutions with user friendliness in mind, that are in line with business/market demands and deliver maximum efficiency and efficacy. Documentation must include user stories and acceptance criteria, and may include use cases, journey/story maps, business rules, data and process flows, gap analysis, and/or functional/non‑functional specifications.
  • Maintain a backlog of user stories that meet the definition of ready. Strive to keep the backlog prioritized with two sprints worth of ready stories for multiple scrum teams.
  • Work cross‑functionally to identify business and technical interdependencies, establish alignment and transparency across teams for smooth communications and milestone deliveries.
  • Proactively influence business decision making, gain key stakeholder buy‑ins with regard to feature definition. Utilize good business sense, and business data when available, to back up your reasoning.
  • Serve as agile/scrum product owner. Attend daily scrum; provide guidance. Facilitate sprint reviews by presenting features’ benefit/value before engineers’ demo work. Conduct initial acceptance testing of each story. Participate in retrospectives and other ceremonies.
  • Represent the interests of the business and users to the development team. Resolve impediments.
  • Prioritize the backlog based on highest relative value to the client, while factoring in dependencies. Manage scope to deliver value each sprint. Contribute to release planning.
  • Build a strong partnership with software and quality engineers. Collaborate to find efficient ways to satisfy business and user needs.
  • Convey the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to peers.
  • Contribute to defining the product roadmap, and aligning it with client and user goals/needs.
  • Identify and help establish OKRs and KPIs with an aim to build functionalities that meet these metrics, maintain a list of metrics utilized to measure success of each feature.
