Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster – Argo Group
We are seeking a highly capable Senior Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster to join our Claims team. This full‑time, in‑office position can be based at our Rockwood, PA, Omaha, NE, Richmond, VA, or Springfield, MO offices. The role reports to a manager in Rockwood and involves adjudicating workers’ compensation claims in the jurisdictions of CO, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MT, PA, UT, and WV, with approximately 20% of the claims covered by the federal black‑lung program.
Candidates must be able to work on‑site during standard business hours.
- Adjudicate highly complex indemnity and federal black‑lung workers’ compensation claims under broad limits and authority, providing laser‑focused customer service and developing lasting relationships with insureds and brokers.
- Solve difficult problems requiring a broad understanding of related issues.
- Report to senior management, loss control, and underwriters on claims trends and developments.
- Identify loss drivers and claims trends to reduce frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management.
- Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing all involved parties.
- Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine coverage under the policy.
- Manage claims in litigation, ensuring cases move toward the best financial outcome and timely resolution.
- Create and review reserves in line with market and Argo’s reserving policy.
- Coordinate assignment and collaboration with expertise resources to assist in case resolution.
- Prepare reports and documentation for files.
- Apply creative solutions to achieve the best financial outcome.
- Settle straightforward claims in line with authority limits and organizational referral procedures.
- Negotiate cost‑effective solutions within own limits, using a range of negotiation styles.
- Prioritize workload by processing mail and completing telephone calls and written correspondence with various parties.
- Maintain a passion for strong claim management.
- Good business acumen and understanding of how insurance companies operate and profit.
- Advanced knowledge of workers’ compensation claims with a minimum of five years adjudicating claims in CO, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, MT, PA, UT, and/or WV.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; alternatively, two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
- Must be licensed in KY or have the ability to obtain a license quickly to adjudicate first‑party claims.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build lasting relationships.
