Investment Management Attorney – Hartford Funds

OpportunityHartford Funds is seeking a mid‑level investment management attorney (5+ years of experience) to join its Legal Department. Each attorney works on a wide range of matters in support of business initiatives and regulatory developments.
Base Pay Range$150,000 – $200,000 per year
Overview of the RoleThe attorney will provide legal and regulatory support to the Funds and Hartford Funds’ other business lines, coordinating Board meetings, preparing Board materials, providing counsel on product development, and collaborating with external counsel and senior leadership.
Specific Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation and publication of Board materials and participate in Board and Committee meetings.
- Oversee corporate law matters related to the Funds.
- Prepare disclosure documents, including registration statements, supplements, proxy statements, periodic reports to shareholders, and other regulatory filings.
- Draft, review, and negotiate service provider agreements.
- Coordinate with outside counsel and independent legal counsel.
- Respond to inquiries from shareholders, financial intermediaries, and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain awareness of industry and regulatory developments and research potential resolutions to issues.
- Provide advice on regulatory matters related to the firm’s business activities.
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and Pennsylvania bar membership (or eligible to be admitted to the Pennsylvania bar as in‑house counsel).
- At least 5 years of experience as an investment management attorney addressing matters under the Investment Company Act, Investment Advisers Act, and other U.S. federal securities laws.
- Experience with in a law firm's investment management practice group, or as in‑house counsel for an asset management firm, or on U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission staff (preferred).
- Experience working with registered funds, separately managed accounts, private funds, and their advisers.
- Familiarity with sub‑advised fund structures is a plus.
- Understanding of the investment management industry and Hartford Funds’ business model.
- Technical expertise in regulatory frameworks governing the Funds’ operations.
- Business acumen and problem‑solving skills to resolve issues efficiently.

- Intellectual curiosity, decisiveness, and effective time management.
- Executive presence and confidence among senior leadership.
- Confident oral presentation skills and ability to prepare accurate written communications.

Title:
Commensurate with experience.
In‑office Monday‑Thursday (except holidays) and remote Fridays; fully remote 4 weeks per year during certain holiday periods.
