We are currently hiring a Legal Counsel with deep expertise in the regulatory landscape surrounding crypto, fintech, and financial services, particularly within the Swiss jurisdiction. The successful candidate will act as a key legal advisor, supporting global operations and ensuring regulatory compliance, sound risk governance, and alignment with fast‑evolving financial legislation across multiple jurisdictions.

This position is ideal for a legal professional with extensive hands‑on experience dealing with Swiss financial regulations, Self‑Regulatory Organisation (SRO) frameworks (e.g. VQF or equivalent), and Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) obligations. A strong grasp of EU and US regulatory regimes applicable to fintech and crypto businesses is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, revise, and negotiate a range of legal agreements, including:
  • Token‑related contracts
  • Service agreements and SLAs
  • Grant agreements
  • Platform Terms & Conditions and incentive program documents
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver commercially aware and legally compliant solutions.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
  • Advise internal stakeholders on financial and crypto regulatory obligations across Swiss, EU, and US jurisdictions.
  • Oversee adherence to regulatory requirements, including SRO registrations, VQF obligations, and AML standards.
  • Develop, implement, and update internal compliance policies (e.g. AML/KYC, data protection, conflicts of interest, internal controls).
  • Act as a point of contact for regulatory bodies, auditors, and external legal consultants as needed.
Governance & Legal Risk
  • Support corporate governance structures through policy drafting and continuous refinement of internal protocols.
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory and legal risks, aligned with industry‑specific risk profiles.
  • Contribute to internal audit functions and help maintain audit readiness from a legal perspective.
  • Maintain a central repository for legal documents, contracts, and key dates.
External Counsel & Research
  • Conduct in‑house legal and regulatory research and deliver concise, actionable insights.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisors to ensure effective, cost‑conscious legal support.
  • Monitor emerging trends and legal developments within crypto, fintech, and financial services sectors.
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Law degree with admission to the bar in Switzerland or another relevant European jurisdiction.
  • At least 5–6 years’ post‑qualification experience in legal roles within the fintech, crypto, or financial services industries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Swiss financial and crypto regulation, including SRO membership requirements and AML frameworks.
  • Prior involvement in companies with formal internal control systems and audit oversight.
  • Working knowledge of data protection laws, governance procedures, and commercial contract law.
  • Experience managing third‑party legal providers and maintaining relationships with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong document and process management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus.
  • Familiarity with the legal aspects of financial data and intellectual property rights in financial products is an advantage.
Ideal Attributes
  • Strategic thinker with a pragmatic, results‑driven approach to problem‑solving.
  • Comfortable operating in fast‑moving, high‑compliance environments.
  • Capable of working independently while effectively prioritising tasks and deadlines.
  • High integrity and sound professional judgment when navigating complex legal challenges.

This is a unique opportunity to join a forward‑thinking team at the intersection of finance and technology. The ideal candidate will play a key role in shaping the legal function of a dynamic and growing business within a regulated space.
