AboutThe Role
Picture your day starting with a quick scan of inventory dashboards, a few vendor check-ins, and a clear plan to keep rough lumber, milled wood products, finishes, and supplies flowing right on time. As our Lumber Supply Chain Buyer, you’ll balance precision purchasing with proactive vendor management so production teams have exactly what they need—when they need it.
What You’ll Own- Purchase rough lumber, milled wood products, and finishes to support active and upcoming orders.
- Buy sundry manufacturing and shipping supplies, plus all supplies required by the samples department.
- Oversee inventory of lumber, milled products, and finishes to ensure accurate levels and on-time fulfillment.
- Manage the supply chain end-to-end: nurture relationships with current vendors and identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers.
- Provide Production Coordinators with precise lead times and pricing as needed.
- Create accurate purchase orders and coordinate with vendors on production lead times and delivery schedules.
- Arrange freight for inbound materials and vendor‑to‑vendor transfers, including LTL and FTL volumes.
- Verify receipts and vendor invoices against POs to ensure quantities and pricing are correct.
- Develop and follow Quality Control procedures for clear vendor communication and error‑free ordering.
- Resolve any vendor quality control or billing issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the COO on price changes and procedural updates to maintain target margins.
- Keep paper and electronic order files complete, accurate, and current.
- Coordinate with the lumber department to ensure precise receiving, storage, and inventory records.
- At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in purchasing and inventory management.
- Exceptional organizational ability and meticulous attention to detail.
- Comfort with Quick Books Desktop and modern web‑based applications.
- Working knowledge of wood species, profiles, and grading.
- Strong math skills, including confident conversion among SF, LF, and BF for lumber and milled products.
- Experience planning shipments across LTL and FTL freight.
- Thrive in a fast‑paced environment; maintain grace under pressure with a consistently positive attitude.
