Own the strategy. Lead the sourcing process. Deliver measurable results.
Clemens Food Group is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to own upwards of approximately $100 million in annual dry-goods and packaging spend, including boxes, bags, and film.
You will develop category strategies, lead complex sourcing projects and supplier negotiations, and work across the business to put those decisions into practice. This role offers autonomy to develop recommendations, supported by a manager who provides coaching and input on major sourcing decisions.
What you’ll own
- Develop and execute category strategies that improve total cost, supplier performance, and supply continuity.
- Lead sourcing events from spend analysis and supplier evaluation through negotiations, contract awards, trials, and implementation.
- Manage supplier relationships, performance expectations, improvement plans, and portfolio decisions.
- Partner with Operations, Packaging Engineering, RDC, and Purchasing to evaluate materials and implement changes.
- Build category budgets and material-cost forecasts, explain variances, and recommend actions.
- Monitor commodity trends and supplier risks to identify opportunities and address emerging concerns.
What will help you succeed
- Experience personally developing and executing category or supplier strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership of complex sourcing projects and supplier negotiations.
- Familiarity with reviewing, developing, and negotiating supplier contracts.
- Financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
- Working Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, lookups, and IF statements, plus experience using an ERP system.
- Ability to build partnerships, work through competing priorities, and influence decisions without direct authority.
- Initiative to assess your portfolio, recommend a direction, and move work forward.
Packaging or food industry experience and SAP knowledge are preferred. We welcome candidates from other industries who bring comparable sourcing complexity and supplier management experience. Relevant professional experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
What success looks like
During your first 90 days, you will build relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers, learn your categories, and develop a roadmap for the next 6–12 months. Over time, you will execute category strategies, strengthen supplier performance, and deliver repeatable material-cost forecasts.
Why consider this opportunity
You will own a substantial portfolio, gain exposure across the business, and contribute to a sourcing function expanding its reach within CFG. You will report to the Director of Purchasing in an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
Location and travel
The team typically works four days onsite in Hatfield, PA, and one day remotely. Travel is up to 15% for supplier visits, company locations, and industry events.
