Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Manufacturing Production
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Loads and unloads trucks and railcars with products, using computerized control stations, meters and scales. Ensures the timely receipt and delivery of all handled products.
- Loads and unloads flammable liquids
- Loads and unloads Hazardous materials, e.g., Acids, Bases and corrosives
- Inspects material handling equipment and performs routine adjustments and maintenance as required
- Ensures compliance with company safety rules and wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in fulfillment of assigned responsibilities
- Responds to equipment issues or alarms; investigates and initiates resolutions
- Logs in and starts up the GMS compuweigh system
- Operates BDTF, BDTF Chem, and EHTF using HMI computerized controls
- Identifies product flow from storage tanks to truck and to rail
- Changes filter socks in BDTF Loadout Filter Pods
- Fills out daily truck/rail log sheet
- Completes daily shipments tab on the inventory spreadsheet
- Completes daily inspection of locomotive or shuttle wagon and fills out the log sheet
- Ensures work area is kept clean and free from safety hazards
- Completes tasks as assigned by plant superintendents and Shift Leaders
- Participates and completes all required training, including Safety and Food Safety
- Completes Rail Engine Operator certification for level 1 Rail Op
- Continuous 24/7 plant operation with exposure to temperatures, weather conditions, gases, vapors, dust, odors, and flammable liquids. Areas may have wet floors and high noise. Lifting of materials and products may be required. Regular stair and ladder use. Extended work weeks may be required twice a year during maintenance shutdowns.
- Personal Protective Equipment is worn in compliance with company standards and regulations. Call-ins or extended hours may be necessary to complete time-sensitive projects, attend training, cover other shifts, or respond to emergencies
- Extensions of regular working hours may be necessary to complete time-sensitive projects or respond to emergencies
- Periodic visits to industrial operations areas with exposure to temperatures and weather conditions
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, basic math and fundamental PC skills
- Ability to perform all duties while maintaining compliance with regulatory safety requirements (e.g., OSHA, PSM, EPA, USDA, ISO 9000 and BQ-9000)
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, manage confined space entry, and withstand extended periods of walking and standing; move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds with regular bending and lifting
- Well organized, self-motivated, action oriented and able to work effectively in a team environment
- DOT/Hazmat training and testing before handling or working with hazardous materials
- General knowledge of oilseed processing operations
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
