Stretcher Operator

Overview

Consider joining the Pennex family as a Stretcher Operator in our Wellsville, PA location. The Stretcher Operator operates a hydraulic stretcher/clamp to straighten and stretch extrusions to in‑house standards and customer specifications. The Stretcher Operator performs the duties of both the Head and Tail Stretcher.

• Stretch a quality product, watching for dents, bends, scratches, die lines, and other defects; report problems to the Shift Foreman or Lead Person.
• Use blocks and gauges when needed.
• Regularly check all equipment and ensure it is maintained in safe working order; inform the Foreman or Lead Person immediately of any equipment issues.
• Ensure the metal is spaced on the cooling table properly and keep the stretcher table full for the saw crew.
• Assist the saw crews when needed to maintain production.
• Keep all material and tools out of walkways, ensuring good housekeeping practices are followed.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area and assist with general housekeeping of the press department.
• Follow company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• One or more years of experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to function independently in a fast‑paced environment or in a team environment and possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to pass a pre‑employment physical and drug screen.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
• Regular attendance required.

• The employee is regularly required to stand.
• The employee is frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

• The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
