AboutThe Role
At reSAWN Timber co., every day in the woodshop blends production efficiency with high‑touch craft. As our Architectural Millwork Shop Lead, you’ll move seamlessly between precision machine work and fine joinery, helping the team turn drawings into custom stairs, trim packages, and architectural millwork while nurturing a culture‑first, quality‑driven environment.
A Day in the ShopYour morning begins with a walk‑through of the machines—jointer, planer, table saw, shaper, bandsaw, and wide‑belt sander—checking settings, replacing dull blades, and tuning cutters and irons to keep everything humming. With shop drawings in hand, you’ll calculate dimensions, translate measurements, and set up operations to joint, plane, shape, rip, resaw, and chop stock.
From there, you’ll execute power‑tool work—drilling, routing, driving fasteners, and cutting biscuits/dominos—followed by hand‑tool finesse: planing, chisel work, glue‑ups, and careful fastening. You’ll guide pieces through finishing steps such as grain popping, filling, sanding, and detailed inspection to ensure everything meets spec. Along the way, you’ll spot issues early, make minor repairs or adjustments, and keep the workflow on track.
Collaboration & OrganizationYou’ll help uphold a clean, safe, and organized shop, manage lumber inventory and tallies as assigned, and assist with project scheduling and documentation. You’ll coordinate with internal groups, join weekly meetings with woodshop, estimation, and technical teams, and work closely with the lead woodworker to uphold best practices and standards. You’ll also provide informal coaching to junior team members and contribute positively to the shop’s communication and culture.
