Job SummaryThe Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of his or her assigned department. A Superintendent is expected to successfully manage the following, ensuring that department goals are met, quality standard practices are followed, GMP/SSOP and HACCP standards are understood, team member safety and order fill expectations are met. Oversee all operations, food safety, product quality, and team member safety and training to achieve accurate and efficient production throughput within company‑established goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides direct supervision to area supervisor to accomplish work and food safety objectives.
- Looks for continuous improvement in operating processes and procedures and encourages production employees' ownership of the continuous improvement program and outcomes.
- Provides leadership on workplace safety, occupational health and food safety initiatives with hourly production staff.
- Ensures understanding of and compliance with all food safety, USDA, HACCP, and company policies, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages hourly production employee performance on both an individual and a team basis.
- Sets and tracks performance targets, budgets, and operating plans.
- Tracks and monitors hourly staff attendance and administers constructive discipline in line with company discipline policy.
- Conducts accident investigations as required, including making and implementing any recommendations for policy changes, operational impacts, or procedural changes.
- Takes a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns.
Collaborates with other key departments such as Customer Service, Maintenance, Sanitation, and QA to ensure safe and efficient production.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervise and train your people so that they’re fully capable of implementing the company’s policies and procedures. Regularly meet with them to evaluate their performance. Establish a yearly educational plan for each employee based on their needs. Perform annual personnel evaluation and recommend goals.
Education and Experience- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Must have experience in a leadership role or demonstrated ability to function as an effective leader.
- Effective professional communication skills to both hourly and managerial personnel.
- Ability to communicate in basic English; bilingual skills desired.
- Basic math skills, ability to effectively use calculator, stopwatch and spreadsheet data.
- Basic knowledge of scaling process and basic units of measure for weight.
- Effective decision‑making ability and ability to prioritize and react to priority changes in a rapidly changing environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook.
- Basic computer skills, including ability to effectively use email and basic Windows applications.
