Summary of the Role

This position is accountable for daily production activities, ensuring compliant product quality with targeted volume and cost, keeping workplace safety and continuous coaching to the team to enhance production capabilities. Also, responsible for driving an organization initiative to safety, operation excellence and human performance tools implementation and sustaining best practice. This position will additionally execute a brownfield project in close coordination with the project manager and fulfill all statutory and regulatory requirements pertaining to manufacturing and the brownfield project.

  • Lead and manage the workforce working in a shift
  • Continuously guide team members comprising production officers and helpers to achieve daily shift targets of production & quality
  • Act as overall in‑charge of the site during the silent hours, coordinate with warehouse & maintenance to ensure smooth functioning of the plant
  • Maintain a safe working environment & plant cleanliness
  • Keep all relevant data and records of plant operation during the shift
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Attend ISO 9001:2015, NSF documentation and audit activities
  • Implement human performance tools during day‑to‑day operations
  • Manage inventory at plant level and face audits
  • Identify, assess, and implement mitigation plans for risk
  • Provide training and development for operating staff
  • Continuously train contract workers for better performance and safety
  • Coordinate with various departments for day‑to‑day work
  • Hold plant manufacturing activities, maintain process parameters through DCS systems
  • Enter data in predefined formats and in SAP systems
  • Ensure correct raw material at charging point
  • Conduct field troubleshooting and visual inspection to detect defects or malfunctions and respond to breakdowns
  • Maintain good housekeeping and sustain 5S at workplace
  • Achieve shift production targets
  • Follow safety and quality practices of the product
  • Ensure a layer of protection and safety interlocks are always in place where necessary
  • Participate in process review, validation and continuous upgrades as needed
  • Identify and implement measures for plant, process, and productivity improvement
  • Identify and implement cost‑saving initiatives in the plant (CAPEX)
  • Coordinate closely with HSES manager and functions to ensure safety
  • Ensure strict compliance of safety and other regulatory requirements partnering with manufacturing and ongoing projects
  • Manage change (MOC) for any change related to facility, process, technology, and people
  • Ensure compliance with work permit system and SOP
  • Conduct regular training and ensure compliance with mandatory safety training
  • Review plant uptime, downtime, and fulfill OEE set targets
  • Work closely with project teams for green‑field and brown‑field projects
  • Coordinate with project team to ensure timely project completion
  • Drive specific assignments for projects, operation excellence and HPI initiatives
  • Measure and monitor performance of System against milestones and meet expectations
  • Encourage team to identify Hazards, Near‑misses and report via specific tools with consulting line manager and HSES manager

Diploma / B.E. Chemical /

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering or M.Sc. in Polymer Technology

Experience and Skills
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in industry related to batch operations, compounding – preferably solid / powder material handling (Diploma: 10 yrs, B.E./B.Tech: 5 yrs, M.Sc.: 7 yrs)
  • Good knowledge of continuous / semi‑continuous process plant
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, NSF, 5S systems (documentation, implementation, and compliance)
