Mt. Vernon Christian Church (https://) is seeking a full‑time Associate Pastor. The purpose of the position is to assist the church in helping people grow deeper in their walks with the Lord and to reach farther in the community and around the world. The incumbent will work alongside the Senior Pastor in family ministry, providing spiritual leadership, encouragement and resources.

Preferred a Bachelor’s degree from a Christian College or at least 2 years experience working in a ministry setting.

• Support the Senior Pastor in the overall leadership of the church ministries.
• Supervise and provide oversight for the Children’s and Student Ministries.
  • Supervision of all paid & volunteer staff associated with Children and Student Ministry.
  • Working with current staff/volunteers to train, recruit and strengthen the ministries; includes Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.
  • Working with the Children’s Ministry Director and Student Ministry leaders to equip and encourage parents in the training of their children.
• Direct oversight of the small group ministry; recruit, train, and build the ministry, and lead a small group.
• Oversee MVCC’s Family outreach programs and events (Egg Hunt, Concerts, etc.)
  • Develop new ideas for family events and implement them.

• Assisting in pastoral responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the Senior Pastor; include:
  • Preaching or other teaching opportunities
  • Visitation/hospital visits
  • Assisting with weddings and funerals
• Attend all staff meetings/​congregational meetings or other meetings deemed necessary by the Senior Pastor or Elder board.

• Align with the Theology, Vision and Mission of MVCC (found on our website)
• Meets the Biblical qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1‑7 and Titus 1:5‑9

• Senior Pastor – monthly reports
• One performance review annually

40 hours per week (full‑time), including church related activity; evening hours will be required.
