Indiana University Health is a large healthcare system focused on quality, innovation, and education. This role will support the Simon Family Tower NICU (a level IV NICU) and the upcoming Progressive Care NICU (12 beds on the 8th floor of Simon Family Tower), with care for a variety of diagnoses including those requiring surgical intervention, neurological disorders, genetic syndromes, and cardiac defects.
The position is fully onsite Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with availability for evening and weekend rounding and on-call as needed. Some patients may require respiratory support (up to CPAP), feeding tubes, or continuous monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision and operational planning for the assigned unit; lead an interprofessional team to achieve excellence in patient and organizational outcomes.
- Translate strategic priorities and outcomes into quality and safety improvements, care affordability, and strong patient and team member experiences.
- Advocate for and embed evidenced-based practices and professional nursing standards to advance nursing practice.
- Oversee a 24 x 7 operational and staffing environment, including weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN). If the bachelor’s degree is not in nursing, a Master of Nursing (MSN) is required, and a Master’s degree in Nursing or related field is preferred.
- Specialty certification related to nursing practice or leadership is preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA; other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.
