Eastern Greene Schools is seeking a licensed and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the district’s Corporation Nurse
. This full-time, salaried position works 185 days per year and follows the school calendar, with time off during scheduled school breaks. Pay is distributed evenly across 12 months.
The Corporation Nurse oversees the health needs of students and staff across all K–12 buildings. This includes providing direct daily medical care, supervising the school Nursing Assistant, managing health documentation and screenings, and ensuring compliance with local and state health regulations. The nurse will also collaborate with school administrators and families to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
Qualifications- Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
- CPR and First Aid certification (must be maintained)
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Experience working with children and families preferred
- Knowledge of chronic health conditions including diabetes, seizure disorders, and allergies/anaphylaxis
- Familiarity with student health databases and documentation practices
- Willingness to maintain current training for a variety of student medical needs
- Ability to supervise and mentor Nursing Assistant
- Oversee the delivery of health services and maintain a culture of wellness across the district
- Provide timely and appropriate medical care and interventions
- Ensure compliance with state and local health requirements
- Serve as a collaborative partner to families, staff, and school administrators
- Support students with chronic and complex health needs throughout the school day
- Administer daily medications and maintain accurate records
- Monitor and count controlled medications; communicate with families when refills are needed
- Evaluate symptomatic students and determine appropriate next steps, including emergency care or parent contact
- Provide medical care and interventions for students with complex or ongoing needs
- Input and manage student health data including immunizations, visits, and chronic conditions
- Coordinate and assist with required screenings (vision, hearing, dental) and vaccine clinics
- Supervise and collaborate with the school Nursing Assistant to ensure smooth clinic operations
- Attend case conferences or other meetings relevant to student health services
- Maintain regular communication with families about student health needs and care plans
- Stay current with training and procedures for a variety of medical conditions
- Adapt daily routines and responsibilities based on changing student and school needs
- Perform other duties as assigned by district and building-level administration
