About the role:Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a caring, skilled, and student-focused School Nurse to join our team!
Our School Nurse plays an important role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of our students. This position plans, implements, and evaluates mandated school health services while providing nursing care, addressing student health concerns, coordinating follow-up and referrals, and promoting healthy lifestyles throughout our school community.
We are looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, organized, professional, and comfortable working with teenagers in a busy school environment. The ideal candidate communicates effectively with students, families, staff, and community providers; demonstrates sound professional judgment; maintains confidentiality; and takes pride in helping students stay healthy, safe, and ready to learn.
Skills and experience that matter for this role:Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania certificate in School Nursing with current professional Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians
- Ability to exercise sound professional nursing judgment
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Commitment to maintaining appropriate confidentiality
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of the school team
- Required Pennsylvania school employee clearances and pre-employment health requirements
- Plan, implement, and evaluate mandated School Health Services in accordance with applicable Pennsylvania requirements
- Assess student health needs and provide appropriate nursing care and treatment
- Initiate follow-up, counseling, and referrals for identified student health concerns
- Apply the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Provide comprehensive student health care and coordinate appropriate follow-up
- Maintain student health records and documentation required for school health services
- Develop and support student and staff health education, wellness, and safety initiatives
- Promote healthy lifestyles and appropriate use of school and community health resources
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents/guardians, and other appropriate parties regarding student health needs
- Maintain professional nursing standards consistent with applicable licensure and certification requirements
- Participate in required staff meetings and professional development activities
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by administration
