American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Geriatric Behavioral Health position requiring a PA or compact license and prior psychiatric or geriatric experience.
Requirements- Active RN license (PA or Compact) in hand
- Current BLS and NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
- Previous charge nurse, community hospital, and LTAC experience preferred
- 1 supervisory reference from within the past year required for consideration
- Completion of lab work within 72 hours of signing contract
- Completion of PA fingerprinting and Child Line registration within 48 hours of signing contract
- Rotates between a Medical Surgical unit and the Senior Transitions Unit (STU), a locked geriatric psychiatric unit for patients 55 and older
- STU focuses on medication adjustments, safe discharge planning, and concurrent medical treatment under psychiatric care
- 13-week assignment with rotating day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) shifts, 3x12 hours
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- Cerner charting system preferred
- Provide nursing care supporting psychiatric medication management and safe discharge planning for geriatric patients
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous permanent or per diem employment with Penn Highlands Healthcare must be disclosed and requires an 18-month break before returning as a traveler
- PA fingerprinting must be completed within Pennsylvania in most cases
