Nonantum Veterinary Clinic in Landenberg, Pennsylvania is the largest full-service general practice within the tri-state region. Located in an 8,000 sq ft facility, we handle a large number of surgical and dental cases and are 100% companion animal focused. We have a close-knit, family-oriented, experienced team of doctors with visiting specialists providing expanded services. NVC welcomes both experienced and new graduate veterinary professionals to join our compassionate team!
Position SummaryThe Technician Assistant is responsible for supporting veterinarians, technicians, and clients by providing hands-on care for patients, assisting with hospital operations, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment. This role is a great opportunity for someone passionate about animals who wants to learn and grow within veterinary medicine. This is a general overview of the role; responsibilities may shift based on the needs of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Care Support
- Assist with animal restraint for exams, treatments, and procedures
- Walk, feed, and provide comfort to hospitalized patients
- Monitor patients and promptly report changes to medical staff
- Prepare exam rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
- Hospital Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, kennels, and exam rooms
- Restock supplies to ensure the hospital is always prepared
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments as directed
- Assist with laundry, trash removal, and general hospital upkeep
- Client Service & Communication
- Greet and support clients during visits
- Safely bring pets to and from the exam room or treatment area
- Provide updates to clients as directed by doctors or technicians
- Represent the hospital with professionalism, compassion, and empathy
- Team Support
- Assist technicians and doctors with tasks as needed to improve workflow
- Learn and grow through hands-on training opportunities
- Demonstrate teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude
- Uphold hospital protocols and safety standards at all times
- Previous animal care experience preferred but not required (training provided)
- Comfort handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Compassion for animals and a genuine desire to learn veterinary medicine
