Student Veterinary Nurse; FTC

Here at Abington Park, we are looking for a Student Veterinary Nurse to join our team! This is a full-time fixed-term position. We see a variety of first opinion and referral cases, providing a great experience base for your veterinary nurse training.

The successful candidate will start learning basic animal care on our team before starting their official qualification through study via day release to the College. College entry requirements are: 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, to include English Language, Science and Mathematics (Grade 5 GCSEs Maths and English if taken from 2017 onwards).

This role includes various (8 hours plus an hour lunch break) shifts between 7.30am and 7.30pm , in rotation between the Abington Practice and the Moulton Referral Hospital. This work pattern is Monday – Friday, excluding bank holidays. There is a weekend rotation working 8am-1pm on a Saturday with time given back in lieu.

Preference will be given to professionally ambitious candidates who are keen to learn new skills and have a great passion for working with animals. You should be able to demonstrate your commitment and enthusiasm for the industry (through prior work experience and/or study) and have a proven track record as a hard-working team player. A full driving licence is needed as you may be required to drive the practice ambulance to collect animals.

Applicants should also be fit enough to cope with the physical demands of the role – lifting/restraining animals and cleaning.

We have a great team of 13 Veterinary Surgeons (majority of them are certificate holders), 18 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 4 Student Veterinary Nurses, 4 Kennel Assistants and a Lab Technician.
