Retail Associate (Part‑Time) – Madison, IN

Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana is hiring a part‑time Retail Associate in Madison, IN. The position pays $12 an hour and assists the store management team in achieving operational goals.

Responsibilities

Retail Associate may be called upon to perform the following roles:

Cashier

• Ring up customer orders, maintain a balanced drawer, and follow all cash handling procedures.
• Provide general information about Goodwill programs and direct higher‑level questions to a manager.
• Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor.

Textiles or Wares Producer

• Sort product for quality and value, clean items as needed, and properly label and hang textiles or wares.
• Produce 100 wares or 85 textiles per hour while adhering to Goodwill’s pricing standards.
• Use a pallet jack and conveyor belt as required.

Donation Door Attendant

• Accept donations and keep the donation door clean.
• Sort products quickly and distribute them to appropriate areas.
• Maintain an organized backroom and load/unload trucks as needed.
• Operate heavy equipment such as a pallet jack, double stacker, floor scrubber, and hydraulic lift.

eCommerce Producer

• Identify and secure items for Click Goodwill.
• Track market value via eBay and other sites.
• Pack curated products, wrap and ship totes to Click Goodwill.

e-Books Producer

• Scan books, decide what to ship to Click Goodwill or display in store.
• Print inventory sheets and ship totes.
• Organize top‑selling displays.

Rack and Cart Runner

• Inspect rack/cart for quality and value.
• Size, merchandise, purge the sales floor.
• Stock shelves and run one textile rack/wares cart per 15 minutes.

• No degree requirement; value experience and learning ability.

• Ethical – maintain confidentiality and adhere to Goodwill’s values.

• Time management – manage own time effectively.

Preferred Competencies

• Basic computer and internet navigation skills.
• Strong communication skills in oral, written, visual, and digital formats.
• Mathematical aptitude – solve everyday problems.
• Critical thinking – apply judgment to solutions.

Other Requirements

• Hard to Very Hard Physical Work – ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift 10–50 pounds for extended periods.
• Tolerance for moderate noise and temperature changes.
