Retail Associate (Part-Time) - Zionsville, IN
Join Goodwill of Central & Southern Indiana in a part‑time Retail Associate role. This position pays $13 per hour.
Job SummaryThe Retail Associate supports the store management team in achieving operational goals. Roles include Cashier, Textiles/Wares Producer, Donation Door Attendant, eCommerce Producer, e‑Books Producer, Rack or Cart Runner.
Example Duties and Activities Cashier- Ring up customer orders, maintain a balanced drawer, and follow all cash handling procedures.
- Provide general information about Goodwill programs and direct higher‑level questions to the appropriate associate or manager.
- Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor (purge, size, run racks, and merchandise).
- Sort product to identify quality and value, checking for holes, missing buttons, defective zippers, or stains, and clean as needed.
- Produce 100 items per hour for wares/85 items per hour for textiles while adhering to Goodwill’s pricing standards.
- Use a pallet jack and a conveyor belt as needed.
- Accept donations and maintain a clean donation door.
- Quickly and accurately sort products and distribute them to appropriate areas.
- Keep the backroom organized and labeled.
- Load and unload trucks, using equipment such as pallet jack, double stacker, floor scrubber, and hydraulic lift.
- Identify and secure items of value for Click Goodwill.
- Research market value via eBay and other sites to properly tag, itemize, and secure items.
- Pack curated products onto pallets and ship totes to Click Goodwill according to weekly targets.
- Scan books, decide whether to ship to Click Goodwill or display in store based on budget.
- Print inventory sheets, seal, and ship totes.
- Identify top sellers and maintain an organized in‑store display.
- Check racks/carts for quality and value.
- Size, merchandise, and purge the sales floor.
- Stock shelves and put away carts.
- Run one textile rack/wares cart per 15 minutes and update the tracking sheet.
- No degree or credential required; value experience and ability to learn.
- Customer focus: understand and relate to customers impartially and effectively.
- Teamwork: collaborate to meet team outputs.
- Ethical: adhere to procedures, maintain confidentiality, follow Goodwill’s values.
- Attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Time management: manage one’s own time and others’ effectively.
- Technical knowledge of computers and basic internet navigation.
- Communication skills: articulate ideas orally, in writing, and digitally.
- Mathematical aptitude for everyday problem solving.
- Critical thinking and judgment to evaluate solutions.
- Physical work: can sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch for >8 hours; lift 10‑50 pounds.
